A letter to you,
I want to be crystal clear about how I work so that you can be successful.
This is who I am...
This is my management style.
Here’s how I do things.
*Aligning with me on my management style (which you will find is very fair and liberating) is the first step towards being successful. If we can’t get aligned, chances are your technical competence will make little difference.
I believe understanding is mandatory. We need you to have extreme clarity about our culture, our onboarding program, the specific outcomes we expect as well as our critical drivers, dashboards, metrics and expectations.*
In other words, we are optimizing for you to be very successful here. If you can’t deliver on these expectations or you want to change the culture, this isn’t a good fit. On the other hand, if you have clarity about how I work and what we expect (and you think you can perform to these expectations), this will be a tremendous opportunity.
Sincerely,
Roman

HOW I VIEW SUCCESS

💡 What does being good at your job mean to you? What are some of the values that underpin your understanding of success?

- Success to me is driven by results. Not by hours worked. If you can get a job done in 1 hour that would take others 10, that is success. I LOVE seeing people build their day the way they want while also driving business results.
- MVP Driven: Done is better than perfect. I prefer to get the 20% completed that drives 80% of the results then polishing and refining until it is perfect. Let’s get it done; then we can get it right. Progress Over Perfection.
- This does not mean we cut corners or sacrifice a good customer experience. We must still exceed expectations but we won’t postpone shipping searching for perfection.
- The way you operate daily should be done via Our Values:
- HOW TO SHOW UP (T’s and A’s)
- Have TENACITY.
- Become an example of fierce determination, persistence and grit.
- Do the BEST You Can.
- Be Coachable.
- Know the score and how to win the game.
- Embrace TEAMWORK.
- Be selfless.
- Maximize total business value.
- Show Other People That You CARE!
- Team before self. I do not tolerate selfishness.
- Lead from the front (set the proper example).
- Own ACCOUNTABILITY.
- Do what you say you’re going to do, and meet deadlines.
- Hold yourself responsible for delivering high-quality results.
- Be ADAPTABLE.
- Solve problems creatively.
- Be resourceful.
- There is no job too large, or too small. Sometimes we will work on strategy, and sometimes we must get int the weeds to get things done. Sometimes you will be asked to perform duties that go outside of your job description for the greater good of the company.
- Treat the company pocketbook as though it’s your own. You will be evaluated on how efficiently you use company resources. Always try to work out the best deal for the company. I pay attention to this, and reward this type of behavior.
NEVER OVERPROMISE; ALWAYS OVERDELIVER
- A promise made is a promise kept. Never over promise; always over deliver. I’ve lived by these words throughout my entire career. If there is a miss, clean it up.
- I believe in alignment and linkage- operating managers working together with strong staff input make the best decisions. (This doesn’t mean consensus because staff rarely have the full picture).
- My key function is to establish the outcomes, set priorities and allocate resources. Your key responsibility is to deliver the outcomes and results agreed upon in these objectives and priorities. My team has a lot of freedom to act and complete accountability to
succeed.
